championships,” said Guan, also President of the Chinese Taekwondo Federation. “This is the first time I have seen such kind of thing.”

Zheng, who had beaten Walkden three times in a row, took a dominant lead of 20-10 in the closin

g stages of the women’s over 73km category final, but the referee disqualified Zheng alleging she had committed 10 fouls during the bout.

Wakden then secured her third successive world taekwondo title by the referee’s punitive declaration.

“Our athlete has worked very hard for this gold medal and it was taken away so easily by the referee. This is very dirty.”

Guan said that the Chinese team will launch an appeal to the World Taekw

ondo, the sport’s world governing body, and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

“We will definitely appeal to the decision,” he said. “And this refe

ree’s qualification should be stripped of. This scandal is a serious damage to our sport.”

Perhaps the blame for the breakdown in the talks should be laid at the door of the mind-set o

China will further cut the number of items requiring certificatio

n and refine the procedures through institutional inno

vation to improve government services and foster a more enabling business environment.

The decision was made at the State Council’s executive meeting, chaired by Premier Li Keqiang on Sunday.

Participants at the meeting agreed that the government’s efforts in recent years to repeal unwarranted certification requ

irements and deepen the reform of government functions have produced notable results.

“These are crucial steps benefiting both companies and individuals

,” Li said. “At a time when the economy still faces uncertainties, removing these unjustified cer

tification requirements will help boost market vitality and improve the business environment.”

With Chairman Mao Zedong proclaiming the founding of the People’s Republic of China on

Oct 1, 1949, the Chinese people began leaving behind a century of colonial humiliation and building a new life.

What remains poorly understood by the wider world even seven decades later is how dire were

the conditions in China during those days. While China sustained its triumph, Chinese people’s living stan

dard 70 years ago was barely 5 percent relative to their counterparts in the United States.

It was a dire starting point.

Transitions that raised China’s living standard

In the late 1970s, Deng Xiaoping introduced “reform and opening-up” policies

and established special economic zones, which ultimately facilitated China’s entry int

Xi announced that China will support 5,000 people from innovative sectors in Belt and Road

countries in conducting exchanges, training programs and joint research in the next five years.

Xi called for joint efforts to facilitate trade and investment and oppose protectio

nism, saying that the flow of products, funds, technology and people can propel forces for economic growth.

According to Xi, more than 150 countries and internat

ional organizations have signed cooperation documents to jointly build the Belt and Road.

The BRI has opened new space for global economic growth and

built a new platform for international trade and investment, Xi said.

The navy has paid over 100 visits to 94 countries and 138 ports, and has held more

Since 2008, the navy has sent 32 escort fleets, 103 vessels, 69 helicopters and more than 27,000 offic

CPCA predicts a 40 percent increase in NEV sales to 1.7 million

As China began to cut manufacturing sector VAT from 16 to 13 percent on April 1, som

As the industrial chain of domestic-made goods are comparatively longer than that of imports howe

“Consumers should not expect too much on price cuts of automo

postal services, telecommunications, modern services or consu

mer services will receive 10 percent additional input VAT deduction before the end of 2021.

An increase in the overpaid VAT following this round of tax cuts will be refunded.

“The planned VAT cuts must be delivered as soon as possible,” Li said.

“Their implementation must be closely monitored to ensure that tax burdens are meaningfully reduced

in the major industries and lowered to various extents in some industries. All industries will see their taxes go down, not up.

“In case of an increased tax burden due to inadequate deducti

ons in certain individual industries, the government will work out targeted solutions,” he added.
